I fell in love with him, a clever hunchback;

I loved his crooked back and wisdom

he mimics a thoroughbred camel in his plaintive lowing.

He resembles a refined man yearning for his loved ones

إِذا كِدتُ أسقُطُ مِن فَوقه

تَعلَّقتُ مِن ظَهرِه بالسَنام

Whenever I nearly fell off him,

When I almost fell off of it

I clung to the hump on his back.

I held on to its ridge
