ونحن ضربنا الزرد بالسيف ضربة

ونحن ضربنا الزرد بالسيف ضربة

فلما ضربنا الزرد لم يتكلم

And we struck the chain mail a blow with the sword.

When we struck the lizard with a sword

So when we struck the chain mail, it did not speak.

وإنا لمما نضرب الكبش ضربة

وإنا لمما نضرب الكبش ضربة

على رأسه نلقي اللسان من الفمِ

And indeed we are wont to strike the ram a blow

Upon its head, flinging the tongue out of its mouth.
