لَمّا تَبَيَّنتُ بِأَنّي لَهُ

لَمّا تَبَيَّنتُ بِأَنّي لَهُ

أَزدادُ حُبّاً كُلَّما لاموا

أَزدادُ حُبّاً كُلَّما لاموا

When I realized that, for him,

When I realized that I was his,

I grow in love whenever they reproach me,

I loved him more whenever they blamed him.

وَدِدتُ إِذ ذاكَ بِأَنَّ الوَرى

وَدِدتُ إِذ ذاكَ بِأَنَّ الوَرى

فيكَ مَدى الأَيّامِ لُوّامُ

فيكَ مَدى الأَيّامِ لُوّامُ

I wished then that all people

I wished, therefore, that people

would reproach me over you for all time.

Would blame him for ages to come.
