أَأَباO Abu (father of) العَشائِرِal-Asha'ir (the clans) لاnot مَحَلَّكَyour dwelling دارِسٌeffaced
أَأَبا العَشائِرِ لا مَحَلَّكَ دارِسٌ
بَينَbetween الضُلوعِthe ribs وَلاnor مَكانِكَyour place نازِحُfar away
بَينَ الضُلوعِ وَلا مَكانِكَ نازِحُ
O Abu al-Asha'ir, your dwelling is not effaced
O chief of the tribes, none can displace you
Within my ribs, nor is your place far away.
From between the ribs, nor take your abode;
إِنّيindeed I لَأَعلَمُI certainly know بَعدَafter مَوتِكَyour death أَنَّهُthat it is the case
إِنّي لَأَعلَمُ بَعدَ مَوتِكَ أَنَّهُ
ماnot مَرَّpassed لِلأَسَراءِfor the captives يَومٌa day صالِحُgood
ما مَرَّ لِلأَسَراءِ يَومٌ صالِحُ
I know for certain that, since your death,
For I know that after your death,
No good day has passed for the captives.
No auspicious day will come for the captives
