أَساءَ فَزادَتهُ الإِساءَةُ حُظوَةً

أَساءَ فَزادَتهُ الإِساءَةُ حُظوَةً

حَبيبٌ عَلى ماكانَ مِنهُ حَبيبُ

حَبيبٌ عَلى ماكانَ مِنهُ حَبيبُ

He did wrong, and his wrongdoing won him greater favor.

He erred, and his error only increased his favor

A beloved, whatever he has done, is beloved still.

A beloved as he was remains beloved

يَعُدُّ عَليَّ العاذِلونَ ذُنوبَهُ

يَعُدُّ عَليَّ العاذِلونَ ذُنوبَهُ

وَمِن أَينَ لِلوَجهِ المَليحِ ذُنوبُ

وَمِن أَينَ لِلوَجهِ المَليحِ ذُنوبُ

The reproachers enumerate his sins to me.

My blamers attribute their sins to me

And how could a lovely face have any sins?

But how can a fair face have sins?

فَيا أَيُّها الجافي وَنَسأَلُهُ الرِضا

فَيا أَيُّها الجافي وَنَسأَلُهُ الرِضا

وَيا أَيُّها الجاني وَنَحنُ نَتوبُ

وَيا أَيُّها الجاني وَنَحنُ نَتوبُ

So, O aloof one, whose goodwill we seek,

So, O you who are cold, though we ask your pleasure

And O wrongdoer, while it is we who repent!

And O you who are cruel, though we repent

لَحى اللَهُ مَن يَرعاكَ في القُربِ وَحدَهُ

لَحى اللَهُ مَن يَرعاكَ في القُربِ وَحدَهُ

وَمَن لايَحوطُ الغَيبَ حينَ تَغيبُ

وَمَن لايَحوطُ الغَيبَ حينَ تَغيبُ

May God curse whoever cares for you only when you are near,

May Allah destroy whoever claims you in intimacy alone

And whoever does not safeguard you in your absence when you are away.

And whoever cannot encompass the unseen when you are absent
