اِحذَر مُقارَبَةَ اللِئامِ فَإِنَّهُ

اِحذَر مُقارَبَةَ اللِئامِ فَإِنَّهُ

يُنبيكَ عَنهُم في الأُمورِ مُجَرِّبُ

يُنبيكَ عَنهُم في الأُمورِ مُجَرِّبُ

Beware of drawing close to the ignoble, for indeed

Beware the company of the vile, for experience

one experienced in life's affairs will tell you about them.

Warns you against them in all matters.

قَومٌ إِذا أَيسَرتَ كانوا إِخوَةً

قَومٌ إِذا أَيسَرتَ كانوا إِخوَةً

وَإِذا تَرِبتَ تَفَرَّقوا وَتَجَنَّبوا

وَإِذا تَرِبتَ تَفَرَّقوا وَتَجَنَّبوا

They are people who, when you prosper, are brothers,

A people, when you prosper, they are brothers to you,

and when you grow poor, scatter and keep their distance.

When you are impoverished, they disperse and avoid you.

اِصبِر عَلى ريبِ الزَمانِ فَإِنَّهُ

اِصبِر عَلى ريبِ الزَمانِ فَإِنَّهُ

بِالصَبرِ تُدرِكُ كُلَّ ماتَتَطَلَّبُ

بِالصَبرِ تُدرِكُ كُلَّ ماتَتَطَلَّبُ

Be patient with the vicissitudes of time, for indeed

Be patient with the uncertainty of fate, for with patience

through patience you attain all that you seek.

You will attain all that you hope for.
