Your veil holds wine for my heart,
Your veil intoxicates my heart,
And beneath its darkness dawn gleams.
Beneath its darkness, dawn gleams.

It bears a likeness to the moon's radiance,
It has the radiance of moonbeams,
And those threads unfasten the rings.

From the eye my heart went out to you,
My heart emerged towards you,
And your eye tears through its veils.

And this silk, and this fragrance,
This silk and incense,
Both adorn the lovesick lover's desires.
Adorn the regions of passion.

وقد أنفدَ المطلُ أعذارَه
Is relief from you the outcome of patience?
My patience will bring me relief,
And delay has already exhausted its excuses.
Excuses are no longer useful.

In your veil, passion has fermented,
Your veil ferments love,
And the breeze passed over it, flattering it.
The breeze blows gently upon it.

How long will you guard the most tempting fruit,
Why do you deny me the sweetest fruit?
When this pomegranate of your bosom has split open?
Your breast has burst open.

You turn my hand away from plucking it,
You prevent me from plucking it,
And in its shade the heart has a noonday resting place.
Though in its shade my heart finds rest.

I will take your hand to pluck it,
Even if a burnished sword should cleave my breast.
Even if a polished sword pierces my chest.

Your sash yearns for Umar's sword,
Your scarf longs for the sword of fate,
So it brings unease to eye and heart.
Bringing turmoil to the heart and eye.

With your deadly beauty it was destined,
