The world has blossomed, and your heart is closed.

And can withered branches grow and put forth leaves?

My youth—and is there any solace after youth?—

has passed, and heavy sorrow has come to keep me sleepless.

By your life, O Mayy, remember the days of our love,

There, where the field is fragrant with sweet scent.

And sing some of the poetry that surpasses revelation,

When the birds greet you in the morning, chirping.

For how often I have longed for the valley, at whose roar

we rejoiced as the veils of darkness were torn apart.
