    فسرتَ وحَولكَ الزَّبدُ النثيرُ

    The surging and the roar have enchanted you;

    So you set out, with scattered foam around you.

    Is it in rapture at the sea's voice that you bend

    Over it, or soar toward it?

    Then take from it poems and rhymes,

    For in its waves there is abundant poetry.

    And take from it vastness and power

    For yourself, for it is mighty and great.

    وكن مُتقَحِّماً وهو المُغير

    And let not its furious onslaught frighten you;

    And plunge boldly in while it attacks.

    And say: “O sea, you have met a sea!”

    For you are its companion or its equal.
