    The singers' strings enchant poetry,

So it may fill the universe with chanting and melody.

Indeed, the singers are my beloveds; I take delight

In every mellow voice that has made me more tender.

Through poetry, people have become angels,

And through the singers, the earth is gardens of Eden.

Those beauties have remained our guide,

Until, through refinement, we attained pure perfection.

They have descended from the realm of inspiration and revelation,

And they draw us near to it, thus lifting us higher.

They cast their adornments upon a lower world,

Thus portraying a higher world that speaks intimately to us.

Ugliness and pain assailed our nature,

So it yearned for poetry as adornment and solace.

And our nature drew sounds from it,

With swaying motions that eased our mutual strife.

The soul comes forth as souls upon a melody,

And the voice is heard as voices that lament to us.

Our strings expressed our desires in rapture,

Thus the soul's expression through us lies in our songs.
