فدَى العربيةِ الفُصحى اللغاتُ

إذا نطَقَت من العربِ البناتُ

May all languages be a ransom for classical Arabic

The eloquent Arabic redeemed all languages

When the daughters of the Arabs speak.

When uttered by the Arab girls

وفيهنَّ الخصالُ من اللواتي

وفيهنَّ الخصالُ من اللواتي

طلعنَ من المضاربِ والضفات

طلعنَ من المضاربِ والضفات

And in them are the virtues of those women

In them are traits of those

Who emerged from the encampments and the riverbanks.

Who emerged from the tents and shores

لهنَّ أَعدَّتِ الزبّاءُ عرشاً

لهنَّ أَعدَّتِ الزبّاءُ عرشاً

فعزَّ بهنَّ دجلةُ والفرات

فعزَّ بهنَّ دجلةُ والفرات

For them al-Zabba prepared a throne,

For them the orators prepared a throne

So through them the Tigris and Euphrates gained glory.

So Tigris and Euphrates were honored through them

وشيَّدنَ القصورَ على ضفافٍ

وشيَّدنَ القصورَ على ضفافٍ

وهنَّ المحسناتُ المحصنات

وهنَّ المحسناتُ المحصنات

And they built the palaces on riverbanks,

And they built palaces on banks

And they are virtuous, chaste women.

As they are the virtuous, the chaste
