Leave, O Arab, the market of ʿUkāẓ,
Leave, O Arab, the market of Ukaz
and the embellishments of poetry and words.
And the embellished poetry and words,

وتلينُ دون الحقِّ للأفظاظ
You lament humiliation, yet do not rise in zeal for honor,

How long will you slumber, heedless and submissive,
Until you slumber heedlessly, surrendered,

And say those are luck's caprices,

So hasten! One has only what one has striven for,
For man has only what he endeavors,
and the age calls for rousing and awakening.
And the times call for awakening and vigilance,

If only you would learn or ransom with a group
that gathers around the preachers’ pulpits?
That gathers around the pulpits of preachers.
