In the morning she went to water the flowers of her garden,
I thought the water from the cloud was dripping from her hand.
In a white wrap that protected her body,
I saw a doll in the temple.
She walked with the lightness of a young gazelle over the pebbles,
And it became as pure as the ground of a mosque.
She bent to pick a rose and I saw her
Like a sister kissing her sister affectionately.
Who can distinguish a white rose
From her glowing, reddened cheek?
The branch leaned towards her shapely figure
Like a thirsty man above a water source.
The gentle breeze shook it with shyness,
So it swayed like a wavering comet.
The flower stared admiringly at her face,
Like a devout praying monk in contemplation.
My beautiful one who waters the flowers
While denying water to the one thirsty for you!
What would happen if you allowed a sip,
Of the sweetest, coolest water from your smile?
And if you refused me, I would say, "Gently, girl,
I will be content with the appointment."
For I have often left the freshness of a spring
Distracted by the warble of a singing nightingale.
Happy is he who is given a drink by a graceful palm,
From a rivulet into a silver or glass bowl.
Love is most content with the most ardent heart,
And mine is enough of an example for the rock-hard.
