فَتىًa young man كانَwas مِنamong أَهلِthe people of النَدىgenerosity وَالتَكَرُّمِand magnanimity
This grave has indeed claimed, from the valley of ʿUlayb,
A young man who belonged among the generous and magnanimous;
فَتىًa young man كانَwas فيماin whatever نابَbefell يَوماًon any day هُوَhe himself الفَتىthe young man
وَنِعمَand excellent was مَحَلُّthe lodging place of الطارِقِthe night visitor المُتَيَمِّمِthe one seeking him
A young man who, whatever befell on any day, was the very man for it,
And a fine refuge for the night visitor seeking him.
أَأَلحَقُّis it true أَنّيthat I لاnot أَزالُI cease عَلىat مِنّيfrom me (likely intended: Minā)
إِذاwhen نَزَلَarrive الحُجّاجُthe pilgrims فيin كُلِّevery مَوسِمٍpilgrimage season
Is it true that I shall still remain at Minā,
Whenever the pilgrims arrive for each pilgrimage season?

May God water the earth within whose depths you dwell,
With the rushing rainclouds’ torrents, from deep, rumbling thunder.
