[I marveled] when God took His servant by night,

From the House, at night, toward a sacred House.

[Wording unclear:] both his journeys—He had bestowed part of it—

Going and returning, without any halt for rest.

So I believed firmly in my Lord, and things were made clear

To us by scriptures from Him, never obscured.

Making things clear, containing healing and mercy,

And admonition for the inquisitive questioner.

We see revelation in them, manifest, and a course

Of revelation that erases every obscure matter.

God, great in majesty, revealed His Book

To Mustafa, possessed of chastity, never defiled,

Noble in his endeavors, from the crest of Hashim,

Firmly established within it, at the forelocks and the nose.

When lineages are counted, or measured with pebbles,

Then his root-stock in Hashim is the finest root-stock.

So do not threaten him; accept what he has brought you

Of messages, studied whenever they are revealed.

Otherwise, I fear that they will be punished,

And their sight sealed over, then obliterated,

And you meet what many generations met,

That passed before you: thunderbolts and misfortunes.
