وَالنُّؤىُ كَالحَوضِ بِالمَظلُومَةَ الجَلَدِ

It could give no reply, and no one was at the dwelling-place.

I sought an answer, but there was no one in the deserted dwelling,

And the encircling ditch was like a basin in hard, virgin ground.

The homes were like a tank with the skin of the oppressed.
