بحبك أن يَحِلَّ به سِواكا

I go forth, and you have sealed my heart

I depart as you have sealed off my heart

with love for you, lest anyone but you dwell within it.

To love any but you

وفي الأحباب مختص بوَجدٍ

وآخر يدّعي معه اشتراكا

وآخر يدّعي معه اشتراكا

And among lovers, one is distinguished by passionate longing,

Among lovers some feel a special passion

and another claims to share it with him.

While another claims to share it too

إذا انسكبت دموع في خدودٍ

إذا انسكبت دموع في خدودٍ

تَبَيَّنَ من بكى ممن تباكى

تَبَيَّنَ من بكى ممن تباكى

When tears stream down cheeks,

When tears flow down cheeks

the one who weeps is distinguished from the one who feigns weeping.

It shows who really weeps from who pretends
