You shaved off your mustache, unaware of what
You cast your words in ignorance of what
hideous things it concealed.
They hid of ugly accusations.
فَعَذَبْتَso you tormented صَحْبَكَyour companions حتىuntil المَساءevening
وعَذَبْتَand you tormented عرسكyour wife حتىuntil الصَّباحِmorning
So you tormented your companions until evening,
You pained your friends till evening came,
and tormented your wife until morning.
And pained your wedding feast till dawn.

So may God not banish that mustache,
So may God not take away those words -
for it had been a covering over a privy.
They were a veil upon a place of rest.
