Let the sorrowful lute prolong its weeping

over the slaughtered wineskin, its blood flowing.

And on a day whose dawn lay far from its dusk,

when its hosts drew close for combat at daybreak—

whenever its dust and haze made it night,

its gleaming swords and armor turned it to day—

I made patience a guiding path for my heart that day,

to uphold honor, with spearheads as its approaches.

May you remain safe for a glory whose home is the sun's halo,

and whose dwellings lie among those of the two Farqad stars.
