أَلا فَاسْتَرْزِقِ الرَّحْمَنَ خَيْراً

أَلا فَاسْتَرْزِقِ الرَّحْمَنَ خَيْراً

وَسِرْ بِالكَأْسِ نَحْوَ السُّكْرِ سُكْرا

وَسِرْ بِالكَأْسِ نَحْوَ السُّكْرِ سُكْرا

Come, then, seek good provision from the All-Merciful,

Come, then seek good from the Most Merciful;

Come now, seek provision from the Most Merciful, doing good

and journey with the cup toward intoxication—utter intoxication.

And with the cup, go drunkenly toward intoxication.

And pass the cup of wine towards inebriation and glee

فأَيّامُ الهُمومِ مُقَصَّصَاتٌ

فأَيّامُ الهُمومِ مُقَصَّصَاتٌ

وأَيّامُ السُّرورِ تَطيرُ طَيْرا

وأَيّامُ السُّرورِ تَطيرُ طَيْرا

For the days of sorrow have their wings clipped,

For the days of sorrow have clipped wings,

For the days of anxiety are numbered

while the days of joy fly in full flight.

And the days of joy go flying by.

And the days of joy take wing and flee
