قَبْرٌa grave تَوَدُّwish العُلَىthe heights ضَنّاًout of jealous care بِسَاكِنِهِfor its dweller
عَلىto الثَّرىthe earth أَنَّهُthat it فيهِنَّamong them مَحْفورُdug
A grave: the heights wish—loath to yield its dweller
To the earth—that it were dug among them.
فَإِنْso if يَضِقْit is cramped فَلَهُthen it has مِنْfrom صَدْرِهِhis breast سِعَةٌspaciousness
وإِنْand if دَجاit grows dark فَلَهُthen it has مِنْfrom صَدْرِهِhis breast نُورُlight
So if it is cramped, it has spaciousness from his breast;
And if it grows dark, it has light from his breast.
