Take it easy on yourself, for everything passes away.

What is now your future will become the past.

Indeed, whenever the two ever-new ones—night and day—gain sway

Over something new, they leave it worn out.

For many a towering, raging calamity

Holds pure joy for you in its aftermath.

So be patient, well-mannered, and unhurried,

Submitting to His decree—nay, content with it.

And regard your Lord as sufficient in hardships,

And none but Him as healer of your painful illness.

He is He, exalted above any partner or second.

So trust in Him—what an excellent Guardian and Ruler!

So forsake all besides Him, whether far or near.

For they are dust, their scattered particles vanishing.

Not by stratagems does one ascend to lofty heights,

But only through Him, whether obedient or disobedient.
