O rosy-cheeked one,

ونمت الحساد بيننا بين
From the darts of separation.
With the arrows of separation
And the envious have spread tales, bringing separation between us.

وامليحO lovely one وازينO beautiful one
وامليح وازين
لاdo not تفسدspoil الزّينthe beauty المليحthe lovely بالشينwith ugliness
لا تفسد الزّين المليح بالشين
O lovely one, O beautiful one,
O beautiful and good
Do not mar lovely beauty with ugliness.
Do not spoil the good looks with evil

I shall make the most of my time;
Take advantage of my time
Loving fair women has done me no good.
Loving the flirtatious did not benefit me
والذيand the one who جفانيshunned me

شا أنساه عن قلبي وعن لساني
And the one who shunned me,
And the one who was unkind to me
I shall forget him—out of my heart and off my tongue.

وأمدحand I praise اليمانيthe Yemeni
وأمدح اليماني
خيرthe best of البراياcreated beings كاملperfect in المعانيthe inner qualities
خير البرايا كامل المعاني
And praise the Yemeni,
And I will praise the faithful one
The best of creation, perfect in all his qualities,
The best of creations, perfect in meaning

To intercede for the Muslims and be accepted
درّةpearl آلthe house of هاشمHashim

له الصلاة ثم السلام دائم
The pearl of the House of Hashim,
Jewel of the Hashemites
