O sweet one, may God gladden

O the goodness of God is good

My heart with nearness after long journeys;

My heart is comforted after long travels

ويجمع اللَه قريب

شملي بمحبوبي بجنح الاغدار

شملي بمحبوبي بجنح الاغدار

And may God soon reunite

And God brings together soon

Me with my beloved under cover of darkness,

My family with my beloved on the wings of fate

في ساعة لا رقيب

في ساعة لا رقيب

فيها ولا واشي يبيح الاسرار

فيها ولا واشي يبيح الاسرار

In an hour with no watcher

In an hour with no watcher

There, nor any talebearer divulging secrets.

In which there is no revealer to make secrets lawful

نسكر بخمر الشنيب

تارة ونقطف بالخدود الازهار

تارة ونقطف بالخدود الازهار

We grow drunk on the wine of the cool, sweet mouth

We get drunk on the wine of youth

At times, and pluck blossoms from the cheeks.

At times and we pluck flowers with our cheeks

يا عذب ماذا عجيب

من خمر يسكرنا بغير خمار

من خمر يسكرنا بغير خمار

O sweet one, how wondrous

O sweetness, how wondrous

Is wine that makes us drunk without a hangover!

Is a wine that intoxicates us without cups

I swear by my Lord, who answers prayers,

I swear by my answering Lord

That lovers have no vengeance at all.

That lovers have no consequence or influence
