To him who made my tears flow as blood,

To the one whose tears ran as blood,

And through him my passion grew.

And whose passion for me grew.

Radiant of delicate cheek, sweet, with sweet, dusky lips,

O you of charming, sweet cheeks,

Slender of figure,

Of supple, slender waist,

ذي غرته تزرى ببدر السما

وسكنه الخيام

Whose bright brow puts the sky’s full moon to shame,

Your beauty adorns the full moon in the sky,

And whose dwelling is the tents.

And dwells in tents.

قولوا له تكرم

على كئيب مسقم

على كئيب مسقم

Tell him to be gracious

Tell him to be kind,

To one sorrowful and sick,

To a depressed, lovesick one,

متيم ومغرم

Enslaved by love and enamored.

Infatuated and obsessed,

If you want, my masters, whenever

لو شئتم يا سادتي كلما

لو تطلبوا حماي

لو تطلبوا حماي

If you wished, my masters, whenever—

You seek my protection,

If you sought my sanctuary—

An hour of your union will profit me,

بساعة من وصلكم مغنما

هل تكرموا مقامي

With an hour of union with you as a boon,

Will you honor my abode?

Would you honor my station?

O enchanter of eyes, go easy on your creation,

يا ساحر العينين خف خالقك

ألطف بنا ورفنا

O you with bewitching eyes, fear your Creator.

Be gentle with us and lift us up.

Be gentle with us and show us compassion.

It kills me, O happiness of your lover,

عليش تقتل يا رضى عاشقك

ما حيلة المعنى

Why do you kill your lover, O delight?

What can be done?

What recourse has the tormented one?

Since we parted, comfort has left me

قد فارق الراحات من فراقك

يمسي سقيم مضنا

يمسي سقيم مضنا

He has lost all repose through separation from you;

I spend my evenings sick and tired,

He passes the evening sick and worn out.

And love for you dwells in my heart,

وحبكم في مهجتي خيما

لا تكثروا هيامي

لا تكثروا هيامي

And love for you has pitched camp in my inmost heart.

Do not increase my infatuation.

Do not increase my lovesick longing.

It is enough that I burn,

يكفي بي احتراقي

ووحشة الفراق

My burning is enough for me,

And the loneliness of separation.

And the desolation of separation.

How great is my longing!

O guide of passions, bring me to Zamzam,

Hopefully my wishes will be fulfilled,

يا حادي الأظعان بي زمزما

عسى أصل مرامي

O driver of the caravans, chant for me,

When sorrows pour from me like blood.

Perhaps I may reach my goal.

Muhammad the Chosen One, none compares to him

ستنجلي الأشجان من حين ما

Sorrows will lift from the moment

The Praised Hashimi

I kiss the soil of the Tihami:

All creation was made for his sake

محمد المختار ما مثيله

محمد المختار ما مثيله

الهاشمي المكرم

الهاشمي المكرم

Muhammad, the Chosen, who has no equal,

For his sake and he is the greatest

The honored Hashimite.

Above all prophets is his superiority

خلق جميع الكون من أجله

خلق جميع الكون من أجله

من أجله وأعظم

من أجله وأعظم

All the universe was created for his sake,

For he is the foremost

For his sake—and greater still.

On the Day of Resurrection and darkness,

وفضل كلّ الرسل من فضله

وفضل كلّ الرسل من فضله

لأنه المقدّم

لأنه المقدّم

And all the messengers’ merit derives from his merit,

When people will be confused and crammed

Because he is the foremost.

Deprive me not of your intercession

في الحشر يوم الزلزله والظلما

في الحشر يوم الزلزله والظلما

والخلق في ازدحام

والخلق في ازدحام

At the Gathering, on the day of earthquake and darkness,

O essence of benefit

And creation crowds together,

I have no merchandise

لا تحرم الشفاعة

لا تحرم الشفاعة

يا معدن النفاعه

يا معدن النفاعه

Do not withhold intercession,

Except your love in my heart that established

O mine of beneficence.

And dwelt in my bones

ولا معي بضاعه

ولا معي بضاعه

And I have no wares,

And love for you, my master, is safety

To the Gardens of Peace

سوى هواكم في الحشى قد طما

سوى هواكم في الحشى قد طما

وخامر العظام

وخامر العظام

Except love for you, which has overflowed within my breast

And permeated my bones.

وحبكم يا سيدي سلما

وحبكم يا سيدي سلما

لجنة السلام

And love for you, my master, is a ladder

To the Garden of Peace.
