Come back, my beloved, come back.

And put aside your excessive unjust reproach.

Love for you has settled in my heart,

Even though your dwelling lies far from me.

Our state has grown serene in love,

And I am of you, and you are of me.

Cut short or prolong your obstinacy—

For loving you is my faith and my art.

And my state has never changed

In the affection you know from me.

Even if your delay grows long,

And you stretch out the cord of separation,

If weariness should show in me,

Then may I never attain my desire's goal.

And if you accuse me, O Su'ad,

Of whatever you wish, then test me.

    Strange, O my reproacher, strange!

So what about my passion troubles you?

Then can you find me a physician

To treat my sickness and my malady?

For no beloved is like my beloved,

To rival him or be his equal [wording uncertain].

And I swear by the Lord of His servants:

There is none like him, so leave me be.
