O peerless one among men of letters and poets,

إني بعثتُ مطيّباً نقّتهُ

من روضِ داري دارِك الغناءِ

I have sent a fragrant offering, carefully chosen

from my house’s garden to your luxuriant abode—

from the garden of my home—your verdant home—

من آسه لا زلت تأسو عاطراً

وتبيد ما يعدو من الأعداءِ

وتبيد ما يعدو من الأعداءِ

from its myrtle. May you, fragrant, never cease to heal,

from its myrtle; may you ever heal, sweet-scented,

and destroy every enemy that attacks.

يحكي بطيب عرفه وبحسنه

خلقاً خليقاً منك بالأطراءِ

In the sweetness of its scent and in its beauty, it mirrors
