لكَ الله نورَ الدين ردءٌ وحافظٌ

مقيماً بأوطانِ العُلا ومسافرا

May God be your support and guardian, Nur al-Din,

whether residing in the abodes of glory or traveling.

حضرتَ فلم نذكر لقربك غائباً

حضرتَ فلم نذكر لقربك غائباً

وغبتَ فلم ننظر لبعدكَ حاضرا

وغبتَ فلم ننظر لبعدكَ حاضرا

You were present, and with you near we remembered no one absent;

and you were absent, and with you far we saw no one present.

ملأت قلوبَ العارفيكَ مودةً

ملأت قلوبَ العارفيكَ مودةً

فلستَ ترى إلا هواك مجاورا

فلستَ ترى إلا هواك مجاورا

You filled the hearts of those who know you with affection,

so you see only love for you dwelling at your side.

وطوداً تردّى بالوقار وهيبةً

وطوداً تردّى بالوقار وهيبةً

يُهال لها ليثُ العرينة خادِرا

يُهال لها ليثُ العرينة خادِرا

And a mountain robed in dignity, whose awe

terrifies the lion crouching in its lair.

وبحرُ عطاءٍ يَخجل البحرُ

وبحرُ عطاءٍ يَخجل البحرُ

أن يُقاسُ به يوماً ولو كان زاخرا

أن يُقاسُ به يوماً ولو كان زاخرا

And a sea of bounty: the sea is ashamed

ever to be compared with it, even at its fullest.

يجود على الإقلال جودك في الغنى

يجود على الإقلال جودك في الغنى

مهيناً لما تحوي الحرائزُ حاقرا

مهيناً لما تحوي الحرائزُ حاقرا

It gives despite scarcity as you give in wealth,

disdaining what the strongrooms hold, deeming it paltry.

جعلتَ بحسن النطقِ سحبان باقلاً

جعلتَ بحسن النطقِ سحبان باقلاً

وحاتماً الطائي بالجودِ مادرا

وحاتماً الطائي بالجودِ مادرا

Through your eloquence you made Sahban seem Baqil,

and through your generosity, Hatim al-Ta'i seem Madir.

نصرتَ أباك الملكَ بالبأس والندى

نصرتَ أباك الملكَ بالبأس والندى

فأصبح منصوراً بفضلك ناصرا

فأصبح منصوراً بفضلك ناصرا

You aided your father, the king, with valor and generosity;

so through your excellence he became victorious, granting victory.

بنى لك فوق الفرقدين مآثراً

بنى لك فوق الفرقدين مآثراً

فلم ترضَ إلا أن تُجدَ مآثرا

فلم ترضَ إلا أن تُجدَ مآثرا

He raised for you glories above the two Farqad stars;

yet you were content only to create new glories.

إذا ما الفتى ناجته بالحزم نفسُه

إذا ما الفتى ناجته بالحزم نفسُه

سعى للمعالي مستعداً مبادرا

سعى للمعالي مستعداً مبادرا

When a young man's soul whispers resolve to him,

he strives for the heights, prepared and swift to act.

فبوركت غوثاً للموائل مدركاً

فبوركت غوثاً للموائل مدركاً

وبوركت غيثاً للمؤمِّل ماطرا

وبوركت غيثاً للمؤمِّل ماطرا

So blessed be you, timely succor for the seeker of refuge,

and blessed be you, rain pouring down for the hopeful.
