صدغاً فأعيا بهما واصفه

My slayer let one temple-lock hang loose and curled

He sent a slap that killed my describers,

another, baffling his describer with them both.

A slap that wearied the one who portrayed me.

فخلت ذا في خده حيةً

فخلت ذا في خده حيةً

تسعى وهذا عقرباً واقفه

تسعى وهذا عقرباً واقفه

So I took this one on his cheek for a snake

So this one remained on his cheek a snake,

slithering, and the other for a motionless scorpion.

Slithering, while that a scorpion poised.

ذا ألفٌ ليس لوصلٍ وذا

ذا ألفٌ ليس لوصلٍ وذا

واوٌ ولكن ليس العاطفه

واوٌ ولكن ليس العاطفه

This one is an alif, not for joining, and the other

This, a thousand not for union, and that,

a wāw, and yet not the conjunctive one.

A waw, but not one conjoining.
