بك الله حاط الدين وانتاش أهله

من الموقف الدَحْض الذي مثلهُ يردي

من الموقف الدَحْض الذي مثلهُ يردي

Through you, God safeguarded the faith and rescued its people

By God, He has established religion and you are its supporter

from the slippery predicament whose like brings ruin.

From the stance of contempt which leads to ruin like it

فولِّ ابنك العباسَ عهدَك أنه

فولِّ ابنك العباسَ عهدَك أنه

له موضع واكتب إلى الناس بالعهد

له موضع واكتب إلى الناس بالعهد

So appoint your son al-Abbas as your successor, for he

So appoint your son Al-Abbas your successor

is suited to it; write to the people announcing the succession pledge.

For he has a place, and write to the people about the pledge

فإن خلَفتُهُ السنُ فالعقلُ بالغٌ

فإن خلَفتُهُ السنُ فالعقلُ بالغٌ

به رتبة الشيخ الموفق للرشيد

به رتبة الشيخ الموفق للرشيد

For if age has lagged behind him, his intellect brings him

If his youth betrays him, his intellect is mature

to the rank of the elder who brings al-Rashid success.

With it the rank of the old man who guides the rightly-guided

وقد كان يحيى أوتي العلم قبله

وقد كان يحيى أوتي العلم قبله

صبيّاً وعيسى كلَّم الناسَ في المهد

صبيّاً وعيسى كلَّم الناسَ في المهد

And Yahya had been given knowledge before him

And John was given knowledge before him

as a child, and Isa spoke to the people in the cradle.

A child, and Jesus spoke to the people from the cradle
