معترفٌ فيها الدليلُ أنّهُ

معترفٌ فيها الدليلُ أنّهُ

قد ضلَّ عن قصدِ السبيل وأضَلْ

قد ضلَّ عن قصدِ السبيل وأضَلْ

There, the guide admits that he

The evidence therein admits

Has strayed from the right path and led others astray.

That he has strayed from the path's intent and led astray

فالقوم من مُحتسبٍ لنفسه

فالقوم من مُحتسبٍ لنفسه

يلاحظ الموتَ وداعٍ مُبْتَهِلْ

يلاحظ الموتَ وداعٍ مُبْتَهِلْ

So among the people is one resigned to his own death,

So the people, from one who holds himself accountable

Watching death, and another praying fervently.

Observe death while bidding it farewell
