I praised Emir al-Fath, seeking his bounty;
I praised the emir al-Fath, seeking his bounty.
I praise the Prince Al-Fath, seeking his favor,
And can a poet be asked for more when he is eager?
And is a poet asked for more when he is eager?
Can one ask for more, when he is so eager?

So he exhausted poetry’s many forms,
So he exhausted the arts of poetry, many though they are,
So I exhausted the arts of poetry, numerous though they be,
Yet his achievements and noble qualities were not exhausted.
yet his deeds and virtues were not exhausted.
Yet his glorious deeds and titles are inexhaustible to me.
