أبو جعفرٍ كالناس يرضى ويغضبُ

أبو جعفرٍ كالناس يرضى ويغضبُ

ويبعدُ في كل الأمور ويقربُ

ويبعدُ في كل الأمور ويقربُ

Abu Jaʿfar, like other people, is pleased and grows angry.

Abu Ja'far is like people, pleased and angry

And in all affairs he draws away and draws near.

And in all matters, he distances and draws near

ولكنْ رضاه ليس يُجدي قلامةً

ولكنْ رضاه ليس يُجدي قلامةً

فما فوقه إذْ سخطُهُ ليس يُرهبُ

فما فوقه إذْ سخطُهُ ليس يُرهبُ

But his favor yields not so much as a nail clipping,

But his pleasure brings no benefit

Nor anything greater, since his displeasure is not feared.

For above him, his anger is not to be feared
