أذابت كُلى الشيخ تلك العجُوز

أذابت كُلى الشيخ تلك العجُوز

وأردتهُ أنفاسُها المرديه

وأردتهُ أنفاسُها المرديه

That old woman melted the old man's kidneys,

That old hag melted the kidneys of the sheikh

And her deadly breaths struck him dead.

And her stifling breaths intended his demise

وقد كان أوصى لها بالصداق

وقد كان أوصى لها بالصداق

فما في مصيبته تَعزيَه

فما في مصيبته تَعزيَه

And he had bequeathed her the bridal dower,

Though he had willed her the marriage payment

So there is no consolation in his misfortune,

No condolences comfort her in her misfortune

لأني ما خلتُ أن القتي

لأني ما خلتُ أن القتي

ل يُوصي لقاتله بالدِّيَه

ل يُوصي لقاتله بالدِّيَه

For I never thought that the slain

Because I know that my slayer

Man would bequeath blood money to his killer.
