يَا ابنَ نُعيمٍ دامَ ذَمِّى لِمَا

يَا ابنَ نُعيمٍ دامَ ذَمِّى لِمَا

سَلَكتَهُ من قُبحِ منهاجِ

سَلَكتَهُ من قُبحِ منهاجِ

O son of Nuʿaym, may my censure endure for what

O son of prosperity, my rebuke endures

you have followed—a vile path.

For the ugly path you have taken

خالفتَ من ربَّاك في فعله

خالفتَ من ربَّاك في فعله

إذ أنت دخَّال ابن خرَّاج

إذ أنت دخَّال ابن خرَّاج

Your conduct differs from that of the one who raised you,

You disobeyed your Lord in your deeds

for you keep going in, son of one who keeps going out.

Though you are the son of a respectable man
