براحتهِthrough his palm قدindeed أخجَلَput to shame الغَيثَthe rain والبَحراand the sea
براحتهِ قد أخجَلَ الغَيثَ والبَحرا
O Sharaf al-Din, whose overflowing generosity
O honor of the religion whose generosity overflows,
through his palm has put the rain and the sea to shame,
With ease he has shamed the rain and the sea,
لئنeven if أمحلتhas become barren أرضُthe land الكنافةkunafa إننيindeed I
لئن أمحلت أرضُ الكنافة إنني
لأرجوI surely hope لهاfor it منfrom سُحبِclouds راحَتكyour palm القَطراthe rain
لأرجو لها من سُحبِ راحَتك القَطرا
Even if the land of kunafa has grown barren, I
If the land of al-Kanafah carries me, surely
surely hope for rain upon it from the clouds of your palm.
I hope for it from the clouds of your ease, drops of rain,
فَعجِّلso hasten بهwith it جُوداًgenerously فماليfor I have no حاجةٌneed
فَعجِّل به جُوداً فمالي حاجةٌ

سواه نباتاً يُثمِرُ الحمدَ والشكرا
So hasten it generously, for I have no need
So hasten with it generously, for I have no need
of anything but it—a plant that bears praise and thanks.
Other than growth which produces praise and thanks.
