    أمشي لأطلبَ رزقا

    Many a fool has seen me

    walking to seek a livelihood.

  2. فقال لي صرتَ تمشي

    وكلُّ شيءٍ مُلقى

    He said to me, “You've taken to walking,

    while everything lies about!”

  3. فقلت ماتَ حماري

    تعيش أنت وتبقى

    I said, “My donkey died—

    may you live and live on!”
