Joy to an eye that has seen Ahmad's tomb.
Congratulations to the eye that has seen Ahmed's grave
And glad tidings to a heart that has gained its desire from him.
And good tidings to the heart that has attained his resting place

ومنand the one who بهَرتoutshone زهرَthe radiant ones among النُّجُومِthe stars عُلاهُhis eminence
He is the chosen one, the elect of the house of Hashim.
He is Al-Mustafa, the Chosen One from the family of Hashim
And the one whose eminence outshone the radiant stars.
And the one whose brilliance outshone the flowers of the stars
هُداهُhis guidance الذيthat which قدindeed ردَّناturned us back عنfrom ضلالناour error
فياso, O ويحَalas for قلبٍa heart لمnot يَلجهenter it هواهُlove for him
His guidance is what has turned us away from our error.
His guidance which has led us back from our misguidance
So alas for a heart that love for him has not entered.
Oh woe to the heart that his love has not filled

فأقسمُso I swear ماnot حازَattained الفخارَglory سواهُanyone other than him
Is glory attributed to anyone other than Muhammad?
Can pride be attributed to other than Muhammad?
So I swear: no one but he has attained glory.
I swear by the One who has granted him pride over all others
هدمتُI tore down بمدحيwith my praise فيهconcerning him ماwhat شيَّدbuilt up الهوىdesire
فويلٌso woe لمنto whoever شادbuilt up الذنوبَsins هواهُhis desire
With my praise of him, I tore down what desire had built.
With my praise of him I have demolished what desire has built
So woe to the one whose desire has built up sins.
So woe to those who construct sins as their passions
هربتُI fled بذنبيwith my sin قاصداًintending نحوtoward مدحهِpraise of him
وطوبىand blessedness لمنto whoever قدامةhas sought him (uncertain reading) ونحاهُand turned toward him
I fled with my sin, intent on praising him.
I have fled with my sins aiming towards praising him
And blessed is whoever [has sought him] and turned toward him.
And blessings to those whose endeavor is to please and obey him

أأخشىshould I fear? وليwhile I have منthrough قصدseeking أحمدَAhmad جاهُstanding
Suppose I have amassed all the grave sins.
Grant that I have committed all major sins
Should I fear, when I have standing through seeking Ahmad?
Would I still fear when my aim is towards Ahmad and his lofty abode?
هَرقتُI shed دُموعَtears العينthe eye مِنّيfrom me تأسُّفاًin regret

علىover عُمرٍa lifetime ماnot كنتَyou were أعرفَknowing (wording irregular) ماwhat هوit is
I shed tears from my eye in regret.
Tears streamed from my eyes in regret
Over a lifetime—you did not know what it was.
Over a life whose worth I did not know

وهلand is ...? لذةُthe delight of الإِنسانa person غيرother than صِبَاهُtheir youth
I have forsaken life's sweetness since youth departed.
I abandoned the pleasures of life when the youth departed
And is a person's delight anything but their youth?
And is there any pleasure for man except his youth?

Worries—I asked God to lift them from me.
I asked God to relieve me of worries
And my greatest hope from Him is His good pleasure.
And the greatest thing I hope for from Him is His pleasure
