Ahmad is the succor of all creation on Resurrection Day;
Ahmad is the succor of humankind on the Day of Resurrection.
for his community, the Gardens of Eden are made easy to enter.
For his community, the gardens of Eden are made accessible.
غياهبُdeep darkness أهلthe people of الشركِpolytheism زالتvanished بنورِهِthrough his light
وماand not زالceased ضوءُthe light of الصُّبحdawn لليلagainst the night يدمَغُcrushes
The depths of darkness shrouding the people of idolatry vanished in his light,
The darkness of the idolaters vanished through his light,
and dawn’s radiance has never ceased to crush the night.
And dawn's light has never ceased to crush the night.
غلبناwe defeated بهthrough him الاعداءَthe enemies فيin كلevery موطنٍplace
ولمand did not نخشَwe fear شيطاناًa devil غداوهوwent forth while he ينزغُsows discord
Through him we defeated our enemies in every field,
Through him we defeated the enemies in every place,
and feared no devil who came forth sowing discord.
And feared no devil who went forth sowing discord.
غَنيناwe were enriched بماby what ابداهُhe disclosed it منof وحيthe revelation of رَبِّوhis Lord

We were enriched by what he disclosed of his Lord’s revelation,
We were enriched by what he disclosed of his Lord's revelation,
and he conveys nothing but the decree of God.
And by what he conveys of God's decrees.
غمامُthe cloud of يديهhis two hands راحَcame to يُغنىsuffices عنin place of الحياrain
فلاso not يستطيعُis able المحلdrought ينمىgrows وينبغُand emerges
The rain clouds of his hands went on making rain itself needless,
The cloud of his hands came to make rain needless,
so drought can neither spread nor spring up.
So drought cannot grow or arise.
غفرتُI forgave ذنوبَthe sins of الدَّهرtime إنif زرتُI visited قَبرَهُhis grave
فطُوبىso blessedness لوجهfor a face فيin ثراهُhis soil يُمَرَّغُis rubbed
I will forgive Time all its sins if ever I visit his tomb;
I would forgive time's sins if I visited his grave;
blessed, then, is the face rubbed in his dust.
So blessed is a face rubbed in his grave's soil.
غليليmy burning thirst إذsince لمdid not آتI come to قبرthe grave of محمدMuhammad
يريدdesires وقلبيand my heart بالكآبهby sorrow يلدغis stung
My burning longing, since I have not come to Muhammad’s tomb,
My burning thirst, since I have not reached Muhammad's grave,
grows, while my heart is stung by sorrow.
Yearns, while my heart is stung by sorrow.
غوائلُthe perils of دهرٍtime عاقنيkept me back عنfrom لقائهmeeting him
تخافare feared فواso alas حزنيmy sorrow متىwhen اتفرغshall I be free
The calamities of my age kept me from meeting him;
The perils of time, which kept me from meeting him,
they are fearsome—alas for my grief! When shall I be free?
Are feared—alas, my sorrow! When shall I be free?
غوايهُmisguidance جهلٍignorance قدindeed بكيتُI wept دماًblood لهاfor it
فرُحتso I went وخدِّيand my cheek منfrom دُمُوعيmy tears يُصبغis dyed
For the waywardness of my ignorance I have indeed wept blood;
For misguidance born of ignorance, I have wept blood,
then I went on, while my cheek was stained by my tears.
So I went, my cheek dyed by my tears.
غدوتُI went forth بأوزاريwith my burdens of sin وإِنand although كنتُI was مفصِحاًarticulate
بَليغاًeloquent كأنيas though I حينwhen أنطقُI speak ألثغُa lisper
I have become burdened by my sins, though I was once articulate,
I went forth bearing my sins; though I was articulate
eloquent—as though I lisp whenever I speak.
And eloquent, it was as though I lisped when I spoke.
