A cheek that is paradise, except

A cheek that's paradise, if not

That it bears a flame.

For its scorching flame,

My heart is stung in love

My heart is still whole in love

By his scorpion-curled temple-lock.

With its hollowed arch.

O my master, I have no intercessor

My master, none intercedes for me

With you except my courtesy.

Before you but my courtesy,

Far be it from you that we should need

Far be it from you that we need

A reminder concerning one so refined.

The intercession of the polished prophet.
