Turn aside to the stranger's door and call out,

And ask—may I be your ransom—where my heart has settled.

And when you pass the dwellings in the sanctuary,

Then recount there my anguish and sleepless nights.

    Say on—may I be your ransom, O Shīma—tell me:

How are the loved ones, the sanctuary, and the valley?

O Saʿd, al-ʿUdhayb and its bān trees have come into view.

So alight—may I be your ransom—my happiness is now apparent.

Take my soul as your reward for glad tidings, on a day when

al-ʿUdhayb appears, and my Suʿad's beauty is revealed.

    وكذا الهلال علامة الأعياد

    My feast day is truly assured on the day I behold her beauty;

And likewise, the crescent moon is the sign of feast days.
