So we are a drink, ever since they settled on a bare plain—

We are just illusions since we entered the valley,

circles of illusions that manifested in colors.

Circles of fantasies appeared in multiple colors.

فإن قلت حق لست حقا وإنما

مثال بدا لما تحكم كافان

So if you say you are real, you are not real, but only

If you say I am the truth, I am not the truth, rather

a likeness that appeared when two kāfs held sway.

An example appeared for whatever rules as compeller.

فإن كنت لاهوتي فإني تكلف

فإن كنت لاهوتي فإني تكلف

وإن كنت ناسوتي فإنك فان

وإن كنت ناسوتي فإنك فان

So if you are my divine nature, then I am artifice;

If I were divine, I would be pretentious,

and if you are my human nature, then you are passing away.

And if I were human, you would be mortal.
