كتابُكَ سَعدٌ بالمَسَرّاتِ طالِعٌ

كتابُكَ سَعدٌ بالمَسَرّاتِ طالِعٌ

وفَضلٌ بأنواعِ المبَرَّداتِ وارِدُ

وفَضلٌ بأنواعِ المبَرَّداتِ وارِدُ

Your letter is good fortune rising with joys,

Your book is blessed with pleasures unfolding

And bounty arriving with every kind of refreshment.

And graced with all kinds of gems pouring in

ولكنَّني صادَّفْتُهُ مُعجِزَ القُوى

ولكنَّني صادَّفْتُهُ مُعجِزَ القُوى

وإنْ عُدِمتْ مِنهُ لِصادٍ موارِدُ

وإنْ عُدِمتْ مِنهُ لِصادٍ موارِدُ

But I found it beyond my powers,

But I found it beyond my power to grasp

Though the thirsty find no watering places in it.

Though it offers much to those seeking within

فلا تَنتظِرْ عَنْهُ جَواباً فما بِهِ

فلا تَنتظِرْ عَنْهُ جَواباً فما بِهِ

يدٌ لي ولو أملى عليَّ عُطارِدُ

يدٌ لي ولو أملى عليَّ عُطارِدُ

So expect no reply to it, for I have no

So expect no response from me regarding it

Power, even if Mercury were to dictate to me.

For even if prompts assail me, I've no hand to pen
