عدوُّكَyour enemy إمّاeither معلِنٌdeclaring his hostility أوor مكاتِمٌconcealing his hostility
عدوُّكَ إمّا معلِنٌ أو مكاتِمٌ
وكُلand each بأنْto يُخشىbe feared وأنْand to يُتَّقىbe guarded against قَمِنْworthy
وكُل بأنْ يُخشى وأنْ يُتَّقى قَمِنْ
Your enemy either declares his hostility or conceals it.
Your enemy is either overt or covert
And each deserves to be feared and guarded against.
Both are to be feared and guarded against
فكُنْso be حذِراًwary مِمَّنْof whoever يكاتِمُconceals سِرَّهُhis secret
فكُنْ حذِراً مِمَّنْ يكاتِمُ سِرَّهُ
فليسَfor ... is not الّذيthe one who يَرميكَshoots at you جَهْراًopenly كَمَنْlike one who كَمِنْlies in ambush
فليسَ الّذي يَرميكَ جَهْراً كَمَنْ كَمِنْ
So be wary of whoever conceals his secret:
So beware of he who hides his secret
For one who shoots at you openly is not like one who lies in ambush.
For he who attacks you openly is not like one who lies in wait
