    When Muhammad ibn Hamid improvises

And moves swiftly through his speech,

He veils the cheek of every eminent forerunner

With the robe of shame, through his prose and verse.

    His pens give every well-wisher

And foe the two cups of life and death.

So his well-wishers are radiant with hope,

And his foes are filled with dread.

May he be preserved for faith and worldly life alike,

And for noble pursuits, by our Lord, mighty and majestic.
