يقولونَ ذِكرُ المَرءِ يبقى بنَسلِهِ

يقولونَ ذِكرُ المَرءِ يبقى بنَسلِهِ

وليسَ لهُ ذكرٌ إذا لم يكُنْ نَسْلُ

وليسَ لهُ ذكرٌ إذا لم يكُنْ نَسْلُ

They say a man's memory lives on through his offspring,

They say a man's memory remains through his offspring

And he is not remembered if he has no offspring.

Yet he has no memory if he has no offspring

فقلْتُ لُهمْ ودائعُ حكَمتي

فقلْتُ لُهمْ ودائعُ حكَمتي

فَمنْ سرَّه نَسلٌ فإنّا به نَسلو

فَمنْ سرَّه نَسلٌ فإنّا به نَسلو

So I said to them: the treasures of my wisdom.

So I said to them, "My wisdom's bequests

So whoever delights in offspring—we find solace in it.

Are for those who find joy in offspring, and through them we beget"
