تعاطى الفتى ما لَيس يَعنيه تارِكاً

تعاطى الفتى ما لَيس يَعنيه تارِكاً

جَميع الَّذي يَعنيه نَهْبَ فَوَاتِ

جَميع الَّذي يَعنيه نَهْبَ فَوَاتِ

The young man took up what did not concern him, leaving

The youth indulged in what did not concern him

all that concerned him prey to loss.

Neglecting all that did, prey to loss and waste

ومنْ سَوَّفَ الخَيراتِ لَمحةَ طارِفٍ

ومنْ سَوَّفَ الخَيراتِ لَمحةَ طارِفٍ

فهفوتُهُ من أعظمِ الهَفَواتِ

فهفوتُهُ من أعظمِ الهَفَواتِ

And whoever postpones good deeds for the blink of an eye,

He who postpones good deeds for a fleeting moment

then his lapse is among the gravest of lapses.
