سامٍ على نَسلِ سامٍ بالجَمال لهُ

بالخالِ خالٌ وفي عَمّانَ عَمّانِ

بالخالِ خالٌ وفي عَمّانَ عَمّانِ

Surpassing Shem’s offspring in beauty, he has

Descendant of Sam, beautiful in his lineage,

a maternal uncle in al-Khal and two paternal uncles in Amman.

With a mole, moley, and in Amman, an Ammanite,

كأنَّه اغتاظَ من بُعدي فأوعَدني

كأنَّه اغتاظَ من بُعدي فأوعَدني

أنِّي إذا جئتُ من أرْجَانَ أرْجاني

أنِّي إذا جئتُ من أرْجَانَ أرْجاني

As though angered by my distance, he threatened me
