الناسُ كالنبتِ فمن شاكر

لأول القطر من البر

People are like plants, some grateful

For the first drops of rain

نعم ومنهم خجرٌ جاحِدٌ

ناسٍ لحقِّ النعم الدثرِ

While others ungrateful, spiteful

Forgetting blessings that came before

إن عام في إنعام إخوانه

فهو على الشط من الشكر

He who helps his brothers this year

Is planted by the river of thanks

فاستبر أحوالهم قبل أن

تودعهم شيئاً من البذرِ

So understand them before you

Entrust to them any seeds
