O you who disparage ink and pens, nothing has been kindled

by the flints of your speech but falsehood and lies.

Without inkwells and pens, there would vanish

from humankind the traces of knowledge and literature.

These are the well of thirsty hearts, and these

its bucket-ropes; water is drawn from it without toil.

Indeed, inkwells and pens are the noblest means

by which the honor of standing and rank is raised.
